• To make science education more exciting so more students enroll in science courses and engage in science activities like science reading, fairs, meetings and field trips.

• To attract more students particularly females and minorities to professional and technical careers in science, technology and science reading.

Much like a football or soccer team, competitive Science Olympiad teams prepare for tournaments. Each School’s (primary and secondary) team bring students who may participate in a variety of events in their skill set. Teams prepare as tournament near, practices vary from weekly study sessions and daily supported by an interlocking group of peers, coaches, parents and mentors from the community, academia and industry. The competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of team events that forge alliances and teamwork. It runs primarily with school teams participating in the preliminary stage tourney at their respective local council area levels, and advance to the state/regional tournament, and then the national every year.

Workshops and Seminars

A Coaches’ Workshop would be conducted for teachers prior to the beginning of school academic session or early in the first term while seminars would be organised for students once or twice yearly to deepen their understanding of the program.
